Brenton Smith is a Director of Bates Smart’s interior design studio, with over 25 years of local and international experience across hotel, hospitality, residential and workplace design. This cross-sector expertise allows him to design vibrant and diverse spaces that respond to brand and place.
Brenton’s portfolio as Hotel and F&B Specialist includes the adaptive reuse of a new hotel on York Street and the recently opened six-part Japanese dining precinct at Prefecture 48, both in Sydney. His award-winning projects include the Little National Hotel, Pier One Hotel and Hyatt Regency in Sydney, plus the Hilton in Melbourne which cleverly adapts the heritage Equity Chambers building on Little Queen Street. Brenton brings each project’s architecture to the scale of the spaces inside, crafting projects that are known for relaxed elegance, a luxurious use of materials and clear functionality.
