James Gregory Wilkinson
James Gregory Wilkinson is an award-winning Editor, and TV and radio travel commentator based in Sydney.
For the last 13 years, James has been the Editor-In-Chief of the Asia-Pacific region’s highly respected hotel industry magazine, HM (Hotel Management), and www.hotelmanagement.com.au
He is also the Travel Editor of Time Out Sydney and Time Out Melbourne magazines, and Managing Editor of SPICE magazine and www.spicenews.com.au
Since late-2012, James has been a regular guest host on the Sky Business Channel television show ‘Business Class’, where he commentates on trends in business travel – primarily covering aviation and hotels.
James has also been a guest on Channel 7’s ‘The Morning Show’, the radio 4BC Breakfast Show in Brisbane and is formerly the Editor-In-Chief of Hilton, Australian Hotelier, Signature Cocktails and bars&clubs magazines. Prior to this, James worked at Courier Newspapers.
James was named the 2008 Travel Writer of the Year for Trade / Industry by the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
In 2003, James received the received the Golden Circle Award from Marriott International. That same year, James also founded the HM Awards, which are now in their 12th year and are considered to be the leading hotel awards in APAC.
At the 2008 HM Awards, James screened a moving documentary (that he wrote, filmed, narrated, directed and produced) about the Sala Bai Hotel School in Cambodia. Following the documentary, over AUD$30,000 was raised on the night for Sala Bai. Since then, over $180,000 has been raised.
Then, at the 2011 HM Awards, James helped raise $55,000 for the people of Christchurch.
In 2010, James was a finalist for Travel Writer of the Year at the National Tourism Industry Awards (NTIAs), presented by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents. He was one of four finalists from a field of more than 20 nominees.
James is also a Young Garvan committee member, helping raise funds for Sydney’s Garvan Research Foundation though fundraising events.
